-Bill, a second generation American on his Mother's side loved to visit his ancesteral home in Ireland. His Grandmother was born in her family home, Killeavy Castle,
Newry, Co. Down. His Grandfather was born in Co Fermanagh. Bill exceeded in sports. In school he played on three Varsity teams; tennis, baseball and ice hockey. He was a gifted golfer with a 7 handicap. As a 35 year old New Yorker he played squash and basketball every week and was just about to start on a new ice hockey team. He worked for Keef, Bruyette and Woods on the 89th floor of Tower 2 for 7 years as Vice President of Institutional Equity Sales. A major part of his responsibility was the institutional market in the Philadelphia area; Vanguard and Glenmead Trust. He was hoping to open an office for Keefe Bruyette & Woods in Philadelphia. Bill was a Philadelphia Flyers and 76'ers fan. The 76'ers have set up an endowed scholarship in his name with The Pennsbury Scholarship Foundation in Fallsington, PA. His fiancee, Aleese Hartmann, has also set up a Pennsbury scholarship. He is the first student at his high school to have a named scholarship. Bill's fraternity Phi Gamma Delta at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa has set up a scholarship in his name.

Bill was a magnet at attracting people. He was the life of the party and a supreme organizer of everything from dinners and sporting events to golf vacations.

His Mom & Dad, Sister Jane and brother-in-law John miss him terribly - a bright light has gone out of our lives.

Thank you Noreen O'Brien for your message of sympathy. William's Grandmother and my Mother was Violet Bell; Sister of Maureen Bell who died in 2000. Bill and his Sister Jane spent a few summers at Killeavy and I was there every summer from '87 to '00 and many times during my childhood. I would like to hear more of your local history project and perhaps I could add some information. I can be reached at gracemaureen16@aol.com. If they do not print my e-mail address I can be reached thru our Memorial website. www.9-11memorialgarden.org.
