As a former flight attendant many years ago, my heart went out to Madeline and her colleagues who felt so very helpless to do anything to safeguard their passengers on that fateful flight. I recognized her name from a newspaper account which said she was on a cell phone with her scheduler in Boston, describing what she saw out of the plane's windows. Her last words were screamed "Oh my God, Oh my God" as the plane flew into the tower.

I pray that she and all the innocent people who lost their lives that day are at peace in the presence of Almighty God. May her soul, and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Madeline Amy Sweeney, 35, of Acton, Mass., had been an American flight attendant for 12 years. She leaves a husband and two children.
