Our hearts go out to all the Whelan's as the loss of Eugene is one which is unbearable to everyone.

Perhaps it truly was a "Eugene miracle" when Flight 587 narrowly passed over your family and as Chris said, "Eugene gave it a little kick".

I hope you find comfort and peace in the shared memories. Heaven is a much better place now that Eugene is there, for he surely earned his wings.

For all who read, please remember the Whelan family in your prayers, as they are remembered daily in mine.

There isn't a day that tears don't fill our eyes. Everyday when people ask about the tatoo, it brings overwhelming joy to describe who you are as a person. How I wish you could have been off on 9/11 yet it would be out of character for you to turn away from your desire to help others. Your memories will always be cherised, and your smile always missed. We will meet again my friend and share a smoke like we did at wingfoot! May God enjoy the laughter you bring to his table.

I share nothing with Eugene only that I too am a Whelan and am 31 years of age. I live in Portland, OR and am the son of a Irish immigrant from Galway Ireland. I saw so moved when I saw his name on the TV on SEpt 11, 2002. Please send me the address of the family and I will gladly send flowers to this family whom has suffered so much.

Thanks and thoughts,
Scott Whelan
