We were privileged to have met Joe during his visit to Co. Clare in 1998. We hope he enjoyed his visit to his ancestral home as much as we enjoyed having him and his family. We will cherish the memories of that visit forever - one especially comes to mind -(squeezing through the crowd in Cleary's Pub, Miltown Malbay, and enjoying a few pints in the kitchen of this pub!). May you rest in peace Joe.
Nan, Ingrid and all of you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I speak for all your cousins in Co. Clare, we were very privileged to have met you during your visit with your family in 1998. We enjoyed the time spent with you all very much, and would have taken you up on your offer to visit you at your office in the World Trade Centre, had we ever made the trip. We will never see the wonderful view you had, but worse - we will never see you again. We know that you are with your father, Joe, and all our other ancestors now. May you rest in peace. Love, Joan & Hugo.

His mother now retired was a school teacher. His paternal grandparents were from Miltown Malbay. His granduncle a well known violin player was acclaimed throughout Ireland for his knowledge and rendition of many old Irish tunes that were unknown to most traditional musicians.

Irish America magazine recently honored Joe Lenihan as one of our "Wall Street 50", which recognizes the achievements of Irish Americans on Wall Street.

This was a well deserved honor for Joe, not only because of his business successes, but because of the pride he had in being Irish.

He will be sadly missed by all of us for a long time to come. We wish his family comfort and strength at this very difficult time.
